Executive Director Job Description Milledgeville Baldwin County Habitat for Humanity (HFHMBC)
General Summary: The Executive Director provides overall operational leadership in achieving the organization’s mission and directing the day-to-day activities of HFHMBC. He/she works with the Board of Directors to develop a plan for achieving the organization’s mission, strategy, annual goals and objectives, as well as directing the staff and operational components of the organization toward the achievement of these goals. Responsibilities include fundraising, community relations, raising awareness, financial management, strategic planning, staff supervision and leadership, and serving as a liaison with the board of directors.
Bachelor degree or equivalent, preferred
Become Loan Originator certified
Ability to plan for and develop sources of funds
Ability to raise public awareness and develop community support
Leadership and public speaking abilities required
Ability to provide financial leadership in allocation, use and leveraging of resources
Ability to organize, plan, and implement activities appropriate to further organizational goals
Ability to work effectively with volunteer Boards, communities, and volunteers
Deadline: The position shall remain open until the ideal candidate is found.
Review fiscal policies and establish a thorough system to include budgets, expense, receipts and disbursements with clear checks and balances.
In partnership with the treasurer and bookkeeper create a yearly budget.
In partnership with treasurer and bookkeeper, engage the services of an auditor for an annual audit.
Administer mortgages in compliance with federal and state laws.
Follow up on all legal procedures (foreclosures, closings, evictions etc.) relative to the organization’s operations and policies.
Work with the Fund Development Committee to develop and initiate a fundraising campaign(s) with fundraising events, business and individual contacts and measurable goals.
Research and write appropriate federal, state and private grants that fit the mission of HFHMBC.
Physical Property: 1. Review current rental space and optimize income from rentable spaces in building. 2. Maintain the integrity and physical structure of the current office building and all real properties owned by the affiliate
Board Development: 1. Work with the Nominating Committee to identify new board members for election at the June Board meeting each year. 2. Work with Board Chair on best practices for board, including board-giving, sensitivity training, etc. Community Awareness: 1. Establish relationships with potential donors including individuals, organizations, and businesses. 2. Increase visibility of Habitat in the community and promote awareness of Habitat in Milledgeville and Baldwin County. 3. Engage area colleges and campus students to share the philosophy and mission of HFHMBC Construction:
Inline with HFHI’s and HFHMBC’s policy’s, continue to exceed minimum construction requirements.
Ensure all construction standards and OSHA and safety measure are met or exceeded.
Coordinate volunteers on build sites with appropriate supervision.
Engage sub-contractors and seek full or partial, in-kind contributions where able.
Relationship With Habitat for Humanity International:
File all reports in compliance with deadlines set by Habitat International and keep the affiliate in “good-standing” at all times.
Work with affiliate treasurer and bookkeeper to file 990’s and other tax related items according to IRS guidelines, including annual audit.
Attend at least one Habitat workshop of other event every year.
Maintain affiliation with State Habitat for Humanity organization (SSO).
